When about a year old she moved with her parents onto a farm about five miles east of Hawarden where she grew to womanhood. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church to which faith she was ever true. On Oct. 11, 1899, she was married to John F. Besides her husband she is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Florence Newman; two grandchildren, Elsworth and Helen Newman and six brothers, Adolph, Herman, Fred and Henry Witt of Hawarden; Otto Witt of Pipestone, Minn.; and Charles Witt of Scranton, Kan. One brother, Will Witt, died in 1898. Mrs. Bergh was member of the Royal Neighbors of America at Chatsworth. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, devoted to her home. She had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances in this community who join her relatives in mourning her death.
