July 17, 1951 --- September 22, 2015

Following a brief illness with cancer, William (Bill) Lennon, age 64, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the Paula J. Baber Home surrounded by his loved ones. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Joseph Dillinger officiating. Burial will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m.

Bill was born on July 17, 1951 in Fort Dodge, IA to Gene and Monica Lennon. Bill was a graduate of St. Edmond’s High School, Class of 1969, and a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Sacred Heart worship site. Bill spent his early career as a mechanic working at R.B. Clark’s and as warehouseman with Target here in Fort Dodge. In 1972, Bill moved to Nashville, Tennessee to work for the Coats Company which was previously located in Fort Dodge. It was during his years in Tennessee that he met his wife, Christy Gale Todd. The two were married in Toney, Alabama on August 23, 1975. Following the birth of their first child he and his family resided in Fort Dodge, IA, Eagle Grove, IA, Madera, CA, and Creston, IA while working for Advanced Drainage Systems. Bill and his family returned to Fort Dodge, IA in 1990 and he retired from Fort Dodge Animal Health in 2008. Bill enjoyed a part time position with Napa Auto parts prior to his illness.

Bill spent his life as a devoted family man. He was a strong man of faith and gave of his time selflessly. Most memorable events in his life include the sharing of his life and faith with his wife Christy and their children, his extreme love of God, family, music, hunting, and fishing. For many years Bill was active in his support of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Boys and Girls Town.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Monica (Fritz) Lennon; sisters, Jeanne Early and Laurie Lee; and brother, Jim Lennon. He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Beth Lennon; Tom and Igbal Lennon; his sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Darwin Didio; sister, Kelly Krug; sister-in-law, Janet Lennon; brothers-in-law, Steve Early and his wife Anita; and Terry Lee. In addition, Bill is survived by many loving relatives and close friends. With deepest regrets he leaves behind his wife, Christy; his children, Katie and Tim Cartee; Todd and Polly Lennon; and Roger Helms; as well as his five grandchildren, Shawn, Greyson, Carter, Tucker, and Kael, all of which he treasured more than life itself. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Boys and Girls Town.
