Evelyn Jane (Hanson) Cretin was born September 24, 1925, near Estherville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Arthur and Edna (Barton) Hanson. She married John T. Cretin on February 26, 1971, and resided in Eldora and Eagle Grove, Iowa. Later, they retired to Ocala, Florida. After the death of her husband, John, she returned to Waukee, Iowa, where she lived with her daughter, Darcy, and son-in-law, Mark, until her death. She was a bookkeeper at the Hardin County Savings Bank in Eldora, and Security Savings Bank in Eagle Grove.

Evelyn J. Cretin, 81 years, 7 months, died April 24, 2007, after a battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughters, Darcy Eilders and husband, Mark, of Waukee, Julie Dyer and Billy of Eagle Grove, and Cathy Anderson, and husband, Kevin, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her sons, Alan Gembler, and wife, Ginger, of Milford, Iowa, John Cretin, and wife, Pam, of Seffner, Fla., Richard Cretin, and wife, Beth, of Mesa, Ariz., Robert Cretin, and wife, Peggy, of Cedar Rapids, Charles Cretin, and wife, Elizabeth of Eldora, Jerry Cretin, and wife, Sammye, of Mesa, and William Cretin, and wife, Jan, of West Branch, Iowa; twenty-eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Honorary mention of grandson's Brooks and Brady Maronn, Matthew Dyer, and granddaughters, Melissa and Jessica Anderson, who held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Cretin, sister, Doris Phillips, and son, Larry Gembler.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, May 20, at the Boeke Funeral Home in Hubbard, Iowa, with Rev. Lenny Carlson officiating. Interment will be held at the Hubbard Cemetery in Hubbard. Friends and relatives are invited for visitation fellowship for two hours prior to the memorial service at Boeke Funeral Home in Hubbard. Boeke Funeral Home of Hubbard was in charge of the arrangements.
