Frieda Alvera Schleisner was born on September 5, 1923, to Fritz and Lydia Meerfeld Schleisner in Sleepy Eye, Minn. She attended schools at Sleepy Eye. She was united in marriage to Lincoln Bruess on August 6, 1960, at St. John's Lutheran Church at Sleepy Eye. They lived in Springfield, Minn., and moved to Goldfield, Iowa, in 1976.

Frieda A. Bruess died Monday, February 26, 2001 at the Clarion Center in Clarion, Iowa, at the age of 77. She is survived by her husband, Lincoln, Goldfield; three sons, David Bruess, and wife, Tracy, Blaine, Minn., Donn Bruess, and wife, Dawn, Albia, Iowa, and Doug Bruess, and
wife, Judith, McKinney, Texas; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dean; a sister, Elsie Lingle; and a brother, Bernard. Services were held Wednesday, February 28, 2001, at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, at 2 p.m. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
