Carrie Thorson, daughter of Knut and Karine Larson, was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa on September 14, 1880 and attended the Eagle Grove schools. She was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She was united in marriage to George Thorson on February 10, 1899 in Eagle Grove and to this union eleven children were born. The family farmed near Thor and Eagle Grove many years before retiring to their home in Eagle Grove. She was a member of the Samuel Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Thorson moved to Minneapolis, Minn, seven years ago to make her home with a daughter, Mrs. Selmer Berg, and later moved to the David Herman Nursing Home in Minneapolis where she passed away on Wednesday, May 23. She was 92 years, 7 months and 9 days of age at the time of her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George, in 1951; son, Joe, in 1949; two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her children, Clarence of Bristol, S. Dak.; Alvin of Thor; Ernest of Eagle Grove; Kenneth of Omaha, Neb.; Milton of Des Moines; Mrs. Selmer Berg and Mrs. Clarence Berg, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Dean Keller of Billings, Mont.; Mrs. Bernard Thompson of Mason City; and Mrs. Henry Pontious of Des Moines; 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 26, at 2:00 p.m. in the Samuel Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove, with Rev. Marvin L. Dooley officiating. Interment was held on the family lot in Rose Hill Cemetery.
