Norfolk, VA - Ida Mae Quandt Schuster, 92, died at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital in Norfolk, VA on August 29, 2015. She was born in Belmond, Iowa and was predeceased by her parents, Rudolph Quandt, Sr. and Ethel Pabst Quandt, her four brothers, Rudy Quandt, Jr., Lewis Quandt, Beverly Duane Quandt and Gordon Quandt and her son, Leslie Clay Schuster. Ida Mae was also predeceased in 1970 by Leslie Schuster, her husband of 33 years. She is survived by her grandson, Leslie Christopher Schuster of Arab, Alabama, her sister-in-law, Ardis Quandt, and a nephew, Terry Quandt, both of Hatton, Washington, a niece, Barbara Curfman, of Touchet, Washington, and a niece, Mary Lou Anderson, of Hastings, Nebraska. Ida Mae served in the United States Navy (WAVES) during WW II and received an honorable discharge in 1946 a few days after her marriage to Leslie, who was also in the Navy and served for 30 years. Prior to moving to Lake Taylor she lived for many years on Longwood Drive in Norfolk and then at The Talbot in Norfolk. Ida Mae was a much beloved member of Larchmont United Methodist Church, which she joined in 1966, and its Peek Bible Class and Christian Fellowship Class. The Rev. Scott M. Rimer and the Rev. Sarah R. Wastella will conduct a memorial service on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Larchmont United Methodist Church 1101 Jamestown Crescent Norfolk, Virginia. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Larchmont United Methodist Church Foundation 1101 Jamestown Crescent Norfolk, VA 23508.
