Edith Ramunda Helgevold was born August 19, 1898, the daughter of Hans and Emma Hovland Helgevold, in rural Wright County. She received her education in a rural country school near Goldfield, and graduated from Goldfield High School in 1916. She then received her teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College, in Cedar Falls, and taught country school for several years. She was united in marriage to Edwin Berg of Eagle Grove on September 5, 1923, at the East Side Lutheran Parsonage in Eagle Grove. The couple farmed near Eagle Grove, until moving to Eagle Grove following their retirement in 1961. Mr. Berg died in 1979. Mrs. Berg was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. She entered the Rotary Ann Nursing Home, in Eagle Grove on Apri1 15, 1992.

Edith Ramunda Berg died at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home on May 7, 1993 at the age of 94 years, eight months, and 18 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Norman and Edwin; three brothers, Harry, Leonard and Harold; an infant daughter, and an infant sister, Jessica. She is survived by her son, Eugene and his wife, Marion, of Eagle Grove; daughter, Marjorie Krosofsky of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two grandchildren, Deb Peterson of Eagle Grove and Cindy Thielen of California; two great-grandchildren, Scott and Matthew Peterson of Eagle Grove. Funeral services were held Monday, May 10 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. The Rev. Lyle Peters officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service, and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Kastler-Babcock Services, Eagle Grove, was in charge of the arrangements.
