November 18, 1940 --- September 8, 2015Kay Foster Echelberger, 74, passed away peacefully with family at her side on September 8, 2015 at the Hadlow Hospice House in Jacksonville, Florida. Kay was born to Henry and Estelle Foster on November 18, 1940 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Charles Henry Foster, and her granddaughter, Melody Echelberger. Surviving her are her husband of 54 years, Richard Echelberger, her sister, Betty Foster of Plantation, FL, three sons, Richard Mark Echelberger (Mary) of Dows, Iowa, Scott Foster Echelberger (Jackie) of Hickory, North Carolina, Brad Franklin Echelberger (Becka) of Jacksonville, Florida, and one daughter, Kelly Scully (Jake) of Palm Coast, Florida. Her grandchildren are Matthew, Michael, and Mark Echelberger; David and Thomas Echelberger; Caitlin Hutsell and John Scully; and Emma, Olivia, and Grant Echelberger. Her great-grandchildren are Angel, Anna, and Clara. She has one niece and two nephews.
Kay was a 1958 graduate of Terry Parker High School and was a legal secretary for many years before her retirement in 2008. She was an active member at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon for five years. Kay was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting. Above all, Kay had great joy and an enduring love for her family. Her quick wit and smile will always be remembered as lighting up a room and her laugh will echo in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Kay's life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, 4001 Hendricks Ave. Jacksonville, FL 32207. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida or Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church's "Raise the Roof" campaign. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home 4300 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville, Florida.
