Services Held for Charles C. Tillman

Memorial services for Charles Tillman were held at the Eyler Funeral Home at 10:00 a. m. on Monday with the Rev. David Dunn officiating. Interment immediately followed in Clarion Evergreen cemetery with grandsons acting as pallbearers. Pallbearers were Thomas Tillman, Davenport; Mickey Tillman, Chicago, Ill.; Craig Tillman, Davenport; Steven Stafford, Glendale, Calif.; William Hornbeck, Cedar Falls; Harold Thompson, Belmond.

Charles Carney Tillman was horn January 11, 1891 on a farm near Clarion to Augustus George and Susan B. Tillman. He was married to Jean L. Breenton [sic. Brunton] on August 17, 1914. Tillman died on Saturday, March 1, 1969 at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 18 days, following a lingering illness. He is survived by his widow, four sons, Charles Wendell of Davenport, George A. of Portland, Oregon. Philip K. and Kay B. both of Riverside, California, a daughter, Lois (Mrs. Richard Stafford) of Glendale, California, a sister, May Tillman of Pasadena, California; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, William, Walter, Bert, Ray and Oliver. He lived his entire life in Wright County. He was engaged in farming until 1943 when he moved to Clarion. For a number of years he was employed by the City of Clarion in the Street Department. He was also engaged in sales work and building construction for a number of years. Mr. Tillman was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge.
