November 22, 1877 --- December 26, 1967

Mary B. Soules, widow of Charles O. Soules and a resident of our community since 1891, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 1967. She observed her 90th birthday on November 22nd. Mary Berthie (Middleton) Soules, daughter of Elza and Clarinda [Lee] Middleton, was born on November 22, 1877 near Woolstock, Iowa. She passed away at the Cozad Hospital after a brief illness on December 26, 1967. On June 8, 1898 she was united in marriage to Charles Soules, and to this union one son was born, Oscar Willis. Mrs. Soules moved to the Gothenburg community from Iowa in 1891. Mrs. Soules was an active member of the Banner Methodist Church, a charter member of Eastern Star in Gothenburg, a member of the Open Door Club, and the W.S.C.S. She was preceded in death by her husband March 19, 1948, by her son April 19, 1924 and by five brothers and one sister. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Ann Darling of Fort Dodge, Iowa several nephews and nieces and a host of friends. Services were held Friday afternoon at Banner Methodist Church with Rev. Swie G. Oei officiating. Music was by a mixed quartet - Mr. and Mrs. Arch Trimble and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Geiken with Mrs. Gene Hecox as accompanist. Pallbearers were Burton McPheeters, Burton Ristine, Richard Hecox, Billy Cline, Spencer Decker, Sr., and Gene Hecox. Interment was in Peckham Cemetery.
