Jane (Hixson) Walter was born in Pennsylvania December 8, 1834 and died at Cottagehill, Florida June 15, 1910 at age 75 years, 6 months, and 7 days. She married Asahel Middleton December 8, 1856 and had three daughters, Nannie, Laura, and Hettie. Nannie died in 1881 and the father in 1894. In 1897 she married Alex Walter who survives at home in Cottagehill, Florida, unable to attend the funeral.
She was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Hixson who died in Lucas County, Iowa several years ago. She also leaves two brothers and
one sisters David of Maneta, Washington, James of Indianapolis, Indiana and Alice of Lucas County. Her funeral was held at the home of A. A. Helleland, Troy Township, Sunday afternoon, June 19, with Rev. Charles Elmer of the Methodist Church in Eagle Grove in charge. Present from abroad were Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Breen and son, William of Pensacola, Florida, Rev. James Hixson of Indianapolis, Mrs. M. H. Adams and Mrs. C. S. Adams of St. John, Kansas, Mrs. Annie Filmore and Mrs. Floyd Filmore and family of Dows, Iowa. Mrs. Walter was buried at Troy Cemetery with her husband, Asahel Middleton.Eagle Grove Times-Gazette - Eagle Grove, Iowa
