Darel Davenport, 65, of Alden, died on Friday, January 27, 1997 at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls with Rev. Kenneth Krueger officiating. Interment will be in the Northlawn Memorial Gardens of Iowa Falls, Surls Funeral Home of Iowa Falls is handling arrangements.

Darel Davenport was born April 8, 1931 in Popejoy to John and Letha Christopher Davenport. He was a 1951 graduate of Owasa High School and of a trade school for business. He served in the US Air Force from 1952-56. He was married to Elaine Dumpman on Januaary 2, 1955 at Sumner. He owned his own plumbing, heating and air conditioning business for over 30 years, retiring for health reason. He was a member of the Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post No. 188 of Iowa Falls and the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife; a son Randy Davenport of Alden; a daughter, Cindy Davenport of Chicago; four brothers, Richard and wife, Mary Ann of Waukee, Duane and his wife, Bettie, of Sheridan, Wyoming, Gayle and his wife Dorothy, of Des Moines, and Lyle and his wife, Marlys of Wahpaton; a sister Joyce Hoefer and husband, Darly of Davenport; one grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
