HICKORY, N.C. - Margaret Ellen Thomas Loewen, 92, of Hickory, N.C. and formerly of Bethalto, Ill., was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, Monday, July 20, 2015, at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton, N.C.

Born January 21, 1923, in Klemme, Iowa she was the daughter of the late Rollin Thomas and Minnie Eldridge Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norvall Walter Loewen; and three sisters, Betty Thomas, Ruth Thomas Ferry, and Ursula Thomas. She was a member of Christ Alive Church in Newton, N.C. and former member of Bethalto Church of God in Bethalto, Ill. Margaret and Norvall raised their family in Staunton, Ill. After moving to Bethalto in 1974, she began working for Chemetco in Hartford, as a purchasing agent.

She is survived by her son, Rollin N. Loewen of Glen Carbon, Ill.; daughter, Rita Loewen Grubb and husband Thomas of Hickory, N.C.; grandchildren, Bryan Loewen, Brent Loewen, Bradley Loewen, Angela Loewen, Brett Loewen, Bart Loewen and Christopher Grubb; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6–8 p.m., Thursday evening, July 23, 2015, at Weber and Rodney Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2015, at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville, Ill. Memorials may be made to Christ Alive Church, 1549 Southwest Blvd., Newton, NC 28658 or Bethalto Church of God, 800 E Bethalto Blvd., Bethalto, IL 62010. Weber and Rodney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
