Besides her sister Melba Muhlenbruch of Hampton, Iowa, she is survived by her children Barbara Kemp of Harvard, Massachusetts; Bob and his wife Bonnie of Mt. Solon, Virginia; Nancy and her husband Larry Fitch of St. Michaels, Maryland; Micky and her husband David Dorsky of Avon, Connecticut; and Julie and her husband Bill Thompson III of Whipple, Ohio, as well as grandchildren Eric Kemp, Karen Kemp Salter, Ashley Zickefoose, Aaron Zickefoose, Holly Zickefoose, Kate Zickefoose Kimbrough, Courtney Fitch Hirschey, Christy Fitch Revels, Claire Fitch, Evan Dorsky, Phoebe Thompson, and Liam Thompson, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, and son Donnie, and brothers Don and Rob.

Ida will be remembered not only for her skills as a bridge player, pie baker, and homemaker, but for her intelligence, wit, indomitable courage, and kindness to her friends and neighbors. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers at River Ridge, Arden Courts, and Cherry Brook who looked out for Ida, and the Westhampton United Methodist Church community in Richmond for their expressions of love and concern. Interment will be in Thornton, Iowa, beside her husband and son.
