Harold A. Schipull was born March 28, 1927, at Burt, Iowa, to August and Amelia (Schwandt) Schipull. Harold was baptized on April 6, 1927 by Reverend M.E. Seltz and his sponsors were Fred Schwandt, August Schwandt, and Ernestine Schwandt. Harold was confirmed on March 17, 1940 by Reverend Louis Wittenberg.

Harold was schooled at Zion Lutheran Parochial School for 8 years and finished his education at Vernon Consolidated School. He served in the United States Army from February 1946 until April 1947. Following his discharge, Harold returned to the family farm and farmed until 1971, when he moved into LuVerne. He then worked for Fertilize Crop Service Plant in LuVerne, retiring in 1997. Harold enjoyed riding his bicycle to work, 6 miles each day. He proudly rode until he was 80 years old. Harold enjoyed playing cards and enjoyed a good joke or two. Harold was a member of the American Legion and the Zion Lutheran Lutheran Church.

Harold A. Schipull died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Long-term Care Facility. He had been a resident there since September, 2013. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Bertha Schipull who raised Harold, brothers, Lawrence, Henry and Alfred; and sisters, Martha Long, Marie Shipler, Lula Jagels, Anna Baumgard, Stella Kirchhoff, Sophie Bradley, and Eleanora Schroeder. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

A flag folding ceremony will be conducted at the LuVerne Cemetery by Otto-Field Post #415 of Livermore.
