from the Goldfield Booster, Thursday, Feb 27, 1930.
Walter Scott McCutcheon was born on Nov. 18th, 1901, at Goldfield, Iowa, and died after an illness of two weeks at Pontiac, Mich., on Feb. 22nd, 1930, at the age of 28 years, 3 months and 4 days.
He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John McCutcheon of Goldfield. Scott grew to manhood here but for the last eighteen months has been employed at Pontiac, Mich. His father was with him during his last sickness.
Scott leaves to mourn his death, his father and mother, three sisters, Mrs. Carl Lewis of Eagle Grove, Marian and Verla at home; three brothers, Leonard, Lawrence and Donald, all at home; three grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McCutcheon, Sr., of Goldfield, Mrs George Helmer, of Texas, besides a large number of relatives and friends.
Scott passed away confessing his faith in Christ and resting in the full assurance that his Master had called and he was going home. Not long is the story of his life as it is told in the words of men, but it was long enough that he confessed himself a child of God, and that he had been cleansed from sin through the blood of Christ. Long enough that in his last when hope was gone and pain was hard, that he could face death in the full assurance of his acceptance in the sight of God. Long enough that he was certain that his Master had called him home to be with Him.
