Robert E. Sharp of Overland Park, KS, passed away on July 24, 2015 following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia. He leaves his sons Robert, Jr. (Carol) of Leavenworth, KS, and Richard (Karla) of Leawood, KS, his daughters Susan Kjellsen (Lane) of Whispering Pines, NC, and Janet Campbell (Dave) of Springfield, MO, and daughter-in-law Cindy Yowell (Gregg), of Overland Park, KS; 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Born on September 30, 1923, in Eagle Grove, Iowa and raised in Hawarden, Iowa, Robert was the son of George E. Sharp and Mariam E. Roscoe. After graduating from Hawarden High School he attended the University of Iowa on a wrestling scholarship. He enlisted in the US Army and served in WWII as a member of Patton's Third Army in France. He was awarded a battlefield commission and two Bronze Stars for Valor.

Robert attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City, earned a Juris Doctorate and established a successful law practice in Kansas City. He met Virginia Limb while singing in the church choir at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and they were married there on April 23, 1948. In 1965, he was ordained as a Priest in the Episcopal Church and established mission churches in Tonganoxie and Edwardsville, KS.

Robert had a passion for all animals, fly-fishing, golf, swimming and running. He was a talented artist and musician and enjoyed the out-of-doors, especially at his vacation retreat in Woodland Park, CO. A Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 28, 6-8 p.m. at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd., Kansas City, Missouri. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 29, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 6630 Nall Avenue, Mission, KS; a reception will be held at St. Michaels following the service. Burial will then be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64114 or to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO 64137.
