October 13, 1966 --- July 16, 2015

Adam Wade Willim, 48, passed into paradise, Thursday, July 16, 2015, after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family at his brother’s home in Richmond. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, at the United Presbyterian Church, Clarion, Iowa. Graveside services are 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, in the Willim Terrace of Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.

Adam Wade Willim was born Oct. 13, 1966, one of four sons, born to LeRoy (Lee) Dale and Janice Joy (Reisetter) Willim. Adam graduated from Clarion High School in 1985. During Adam’s senior year of high school, he was selected to be a congressional page at the House of Representatives in Iowa, and could recite each representative’s name in alphabetical order from memory. As a page, Adam escorted George H. W. Bush from the airport and had his picture taken with President Bush. After high school, Adam attended North Iowa Area Community College, Mason City, Iowa, where he studied in pre-mortuary science. While studying pre-mortuary, Adam worked for Hogan-Bremmer Funeral Home in Mason City. Adam then attended the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in Cincinnati, Ohio, the same school that his father and older brother Bart attended (a family tradition). Adam earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mortuary Science, the first ever offered by any mortuary school in the nation.

After graduating, Adam decided to see the world, so he left for Alaska the day after Christmas and drove the Alcan Highway to Alaska where he worked as a funeral director in Anchorage. His little brother Matthew would join him in Alaska to make him feel right at home. After three years in Alaska, Adam and Matt returned to the mainland. Adam worked as a funeral director in Minnesota for several years before joining the family business. After the sale of Willim Funeral Homes in Iowa, Adam and Bart moved to Minnesota together to own and operate Willim Family Funeral Homes in Aitkin, Pequot Lakes and Pine River, Minn. After selling the funeral homes in Minnesota, Adam rejoined his brother Matt on the East coast where he worked for the Samora Company. Adam was living in Florida for the past year to be close to his father.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include his father Lee (Sylvia) Willim of Fort Myers, Fla.; brothers Bartley (Tonya) Willim of Richmond, Eric Willim of Holmes, Iowa and Matthew (Claire) Willim of South Attleboro, Mass.; special nieces Lexi and Ashlee Willim and other extended family members and friends. Adam was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Willim (Sept. 6, 2003) and his beloved dog Nuge. The family suggests memorial contributions be made with acts of kindness, love and compassion between family and friends in the spirit of Adam’s life.
