August 27, 1938 --- June 1, 2015

Norma Klaver, 76, Apache Junction, AZ passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 at Banner Gateway Hospital, Gilbert, AZ. Memorial Services will be held on June 10, 2015 at 1:00pm at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, Apache Junction, AZ with Rev Dr. Larry Eaken officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Kamrar, IA. Lunch will be served in the Fellowship Hall following the service.

Norma Jean Mourlam, daughter of Blanche Mourlam-Lovelace, was born at home East of Woolstock, Iowa on August 27, 1938. She was raised in her grandparent's home by Sophie and Albert "Beck" Mourlam. She attended rural schools, and graduated from Clarion High School. In 1958 she married Lester R. Klaver of Kamrar, IA at the Presbyterian Church east of Kamrar, IA. They made their home in Webster City for the first few years of their marriage where Norma worked for a period of time at Williams Drug Store. In 1963, they moved to a farm south of Kamrar where they lived and farmed until 2000, when they moved to their present home in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Throughout her life Norma was active in her church as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, member of the Women's Circle Club, and a part of a neighborhood women's coffee club. She held several part time positions as an Avon Dealer, a clerk at JC Penney's in Webster City, and working at the Dairy Sweet in Jewell, and in later years supported her husband, Lester, with the family farm near Kamrar. In the late 90's Lester and Norma managed the Clubhouse at the Jewell Golf & Country Club in Jewell, Iowa for three years. Upon retirement in Apache Junction, Norma and Lester joined the John Calvin Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon, and continued to be active in both the church and community. Norma enjoyed her time in retirement and spending time with friends and family.

Norma is survived by her husband Lester, Apache Junction; children Michelle (Ken) McBain, Apache Junction, AZ; Jolyn (John) Winkler, Mesa, AZ; and Uncle Mervin Mourlam, Webster City, IA; grandchildren [redacted]; Catherine McBain, San Diego, CA; Keith McBain & fiance Elizabeth Yltalo, Auburn, CA; Justin (Angela) Winkler, Williams, IA; Mathew (Carrie) Winkler, Webster City, IA; great-grandchildren Lydia, Katelyn, Evan, Lane, Tommy, and MacKaylee; and sister-in-law Yvonne Klaver of Carroll, IA; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Sophie and Albert (Beck) Mourlam, her mother Blanche Mourlam-Lovelace; son Randy Klaver; brother-in-law Roger Klaver; father-in-law and mother-in-law Joe P. & Minnie Klaver.
