December 22, 1890 --- August 15, 1960

Funeral services for Mrs. Alma J. Gardalen, 69, were held Thursday, August 18 at two o'clock at the Eyler Funeral home with the Rev. Norman Johnson of Renwick officiating. Mrs. Wesley Phillips was the organist and Mrs. R. B. Comstock soloist. Pall bearers were Roger Johnson of Kanawha, Kenneth Johnson of Kanawha, Glen Johnson of Kanawha, Art Lonning of Crystal Lake, Lester Hanson of Goldfield and Leland Swan of Hardy.

Alma Josephine Hanson Gardalen was born December 22, 1890 near Kanawha to Andrew and and Gunda Hanson, and passed away at the age of 69 years, 8 months, 15 days. At the age of 13 she moved with her parents to Belmond. She was baptized when an infant and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the St. Olaf church by Rev. Hetland in 1906. On December 18, 1917 she was united in marriage to Melvin Gardalen and they made their home on various farms in the Dows vicinity. In 1951 they retired from the farm and moved to Clarion and later moved to their present home near Renwick. Three children came to bless their home whom now with the husband and father, Melvin B. are left to mourn her passing. The children are Orville of Dows, Opal (Mrs. Richard Ross) of Saux Centre, Minn, and Kenneth of Alexander, and 11 grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters and one brother, Louise Lonning of Mason City, Matilda Bamford, Belmond; Mrs. Nellie Johnson of Kanawha and Ole Hanson of Goldfield.
