October 6, 1917 --- June 5, 2015

Dolores Mallinger, 97, passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 9th at 10:00 in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Catholic Daughters of America and Legion of Mary Rosary at 4:30 p.m., Vigil at 7:00 p.m. all at the funeral home.

Dolores was born October 16, 1917 in Vincent, IA. She attended country schools in Newark and Colfax Townships in Webster County. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1935 and later from Tobin College. She worked for 41 years as a Medical Assistant; beginning her career in the Outpatient Department of the former Mercy Hospital. She later worked in the office of Dr. L. L. Leighton, and then worked for Doctors Thatcher, Stitt, and Allen; she then later worked for Dr. Eric Swanson. In 1941, Dolores was united in marriage to Joseph Mallinger. The couple established their home in Duncombe and farmed in the Duncombe and Eagle Grove area until moving to Fort Dodge in 1953.

Dolores is survived by her sister Margaret "Peggy" Ruby of Fort Dodge. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; Clarence J. and Margaret E. (Powers) Beckel, an infant brother; and her husband Joseph in 1975. Dolores was active in the Medical Association, she served as President of the Fort Dodge District of Medical Assistants, President of the Iowa Association of Medical assistants and Committee Chairman of the American Association of Medical Assistants. She retired from the Medical Profession in 1989. From 1990 to 1995, Dolores was the Librarian at Sacred Heart Junior High. She was a 65 year member of the Catholic Daughters of America and served as Grand Regent. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Legion of Mary, and Friends of the Fort Dodge Public Library. Memorials may be left to Marian Home Building fund, Holy Trinity Parish, or to the charity of your choice.
