Margrete L. Jones, age 85, of Dows passed away Sunday June 7, 2015 at the Iowa Specialty Hospital of Clarion. Funeral services for Margrete L. Jones will be held at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday June 10, 2015 at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond. Burial will take place at a later date in the Graceland Cemetery near Rowan. Visitation for Margrete L. Jones will be from 5:00 - 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home in Belmond. Dugger Funeral Home in Belmond is in charge of arrangements.

Margrete Louise, the daughter of James and Celia Azeltine Groom was born May 5, 1930 in Calway, California. After a short stay on the west coast, Margrete returned with her family to grow up in Rowan, Iowa. Margrete graduated from Rowan High School in 1948. She then attended both Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and Drake University in Des Moines. Margrete then began teaching at several country schools in the Rowan areas.

Margrete was united in marriage to Ronald Ordean Jones on September 15, 1951 at the United Methodist Church in Rowan. The couple made their home both north and south of Rowan, where Ordean farmed and Margrete raised a family and worked as a farm wife. Margrete and Ordean moved into Dows in 1978. Ordean passed away in 1996. Margrete continue to live at the house in Dows where she led a very active life. She moved to the Clarion Care Center in May of 2015.

Margrete was active in the United Methodist Church both in Rowan and Dows, where she taught Sunday School. She belonged to the Blaine Friendship Club and volunteered working at the Depot welcome center at Dows. She loved gardening, especially flowers. Margrete also enjoyed sewing, making many clothes for her kids.

Margrete is survived by her children, Scott and Sue of Rowan, Janette Bosch and Don of Dows, Luanne Reeves and Steven of Olathe, KS, Barry and Marrisa of Waterloo, thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two brothers, Tom Groom of Belmond, Dwight and Marjorie Groom of Rowan, numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ronald Ordean in 1996, and a sister, Darlene.
