July 14, 1934 --- December 7, 1996

Delmer Spellmeyer, 62, Webster City, died Dec. 7, 1996, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Church, Kamrar, with Dr. Craig Bex and David Beals officiating. Burial will be at the Community Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 191. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Monday until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, when the casket will be taken to the church.

Delmer Duane Spellmeyer, son of William and Lenore Ulstad Spellmeyer, was born July 14, 1934, on a farm west of Woolstock. He graduated from Woolstock Public School in 1952. From 1954 to 1956, he served with the U.S. Army. Part of this time was served in Korea. On June 26, 1960, he married Minyon Frost in Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City. He had been employed at the United Cooperative in Webster City, was a police officer in Webster City from 1963 to 1966, worked for Park Electric for nine years, and in 1975, he started Spellmeyer Electric in Webster City. He retired because of failing health in 1994.

He is survived by his wife, Minyon; sons, William and Matthew, both of Webster City; brother, Kenneth Spellmeyer, Woolstock; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James and Roger Spellmeyer; and sister, Marilyn Gatewood. Mr. Spellmeyer was an elder of the Community Church.
