February 28, 1896 --- July 14, 1969

Minnie Ellen Eastman was born on February 28, 1896, at Alcester, S. D., the daughter of Charles and Cora Kline Eastman. She attended rural school in South Dakota. She was united in marriage to Paul J. Collopy at Hawarden, Ia. on October 9, 1920, and lived in Hawarden until moving to Eagle Grove in 1934. Mr. and Mrs. Collopy became the parents of five children, all of whom survive. They are: sons, Edward Collopy, Clinton, Ia; Lloyd Collopy, Rochester, Minn.; William Collopy, Riverside, Calif., daughters, Evelyn (Mrs. Harley Finley), Johnston, Ia., and Ellen, (Mrs. Robert Nelson), Milwaukee, Wisc. Mrs. Collopy died at the Rotary Ann Retirement Home on Monday, July 14, after an illness of three years. At the time of her death, she was, 73 years, 4 months, and 16 days old. She is also survived by, two sisters, three brothers and 14 grandchildren. Mrs. Collopy was preceded in death by her husband in 1968.

She was a member of Lodge No. 109, Ladies Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and a member of the Rebekah Lodge No., 185, Eagle Grove, and Past Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge No. 589. at Hawarden, Ia. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, at the Kastler-Babcock- Funeral Home with the Rev. Emmett Braselton of the United Congregational Church of Christ officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. All of the Collopy children were in Eagle Grove to attend the funeral services.
