December 27, 1866 --- October 22, 1938

Mary Jane Bentley was born Dec. 27, 1866, in Fairfield, Iowa, and died Oct. 22nd at her home in Eagle Grove at the age of 71 years and 10 months. She was married to Chris Christensen at Tama, Iowa, in 1890, and in 1891 they came to Eagle Grove to make their home. She is survived by her husband and four children, two sons and two daughters. Dr. John R. Christensen and Forrest Christensen of this city, Mrs. Ettna Vander Stoep of Mallard and Irving Christensen of Shenandoah, five grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Waller Brown of Tama.

Mrs. Christensen was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church, Order of Eastern Star, Jaunita Rebekah and Past Noble Grand lodges. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Methodist church in charge of the pastor, Rev. J. R. Tumbleson. The Eastern Star service was given at the church, and the Rebekah service was given at the grave. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
