Belva Dingman, was born to Isaac Dingman and his wife, Sarah Whaley Dingman Feb. 16, 1889 at Homer. She was baptized as a young girl in the Methodist church in Hamilton county. She attended public school in Cameron, Iowa, where she later served as a mid-wife for many years. On Dec. 24, 1910, she was united in marriage to Phinis Noe at Webster City with the Rev. C. N. Kamphoefner officiating. The couple farmed at Blairsburg and Clarion, until 1918 when they moved to a farm in Worth county near Meltonville. They later moved to a farm near Northwood, Iowa. In the fall of 1943 they moved to their home in Northwood where she resided until her death on Sept. 27, 1973.
They were the parents of six daughters and one son. They were also foster parents of two nieces and a nephew. Mr. Noe died on April 12, 1954. She was a member of the Northwood Methodist church, where she was active in Bible study and circle, until she joined the Lutheran church in 1963. On Sept. 29, 1962 she was united in marriage to Harlan James of Northwood. On April 21, 1963 she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith and became an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran congregation of Myrtle, Minn. Here she continued her active role in the Bible study and women's groups of the congregation.
She is survived by her husband, Harlan; four daughters, Lorene (Mrs. Herbert Schutz), Louise (Mrs. Richard Hove), Roberta (Mrs. Louis Wilkuski), and Esther (Mrs. Glenn Ferley); one son, Walter Noe; three foster children, Dorothea (Mrs. Merle Dixon), Isol (Mrs. Everette Carlson), and Leonard Noe; four granddaughters; four grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; two step children, Donna (Mrs. Neil Saivin) and Melvin James; twelve step grandchildren; and one brother, Joe Dingman.
