Virginia "Ginny" I. Buland, 83, of Mason City, Iowa, died Tuesday March 24, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at the Epiphany Parish St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., Mason City, with the Rev. John Gossman officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City, with a scriptural wake service at 6:30 p.m.
Ginny was born July 30, 1931, in Thor, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford and Maud (Mericle) Ewing. She attended high school in Thompson, Iowa, and then attended Waldorf College, Forest City, Iowa. Ginny married Lester Wayne Buland and to this union had three sons and a daughter. Ginny worked various jobs including sales for Avon, Mary Kay, and Watkins home products. She owned the Crafty Little Corner craft shop in Mason City, where she enjoyed teaching painting and painting nature scenes on wooden home décor.
Ginny is survived by her children: Tom Buland, Mason City, Iowa, Jeff Buland and his wife Lisa, Rudd, Iowa, and Amy Jo Smalley and her husband Doug, Petal, Mississippi; four grandchildren Crystal Buland, Siouxzee Moore, Bekah Buland and Ceila Smalley; three sisters Dorothy Ruiter and her husband LuVern, Thornton, Iowa, Mildred Verlo, West Branch, Iowa and Barb Thompson and her husband Forry, Forest City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wayne; son Bryan; brother-in-law Audrey Verlo; and two nephews Allen Thompson and Wesley Verlo. Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City, IA
