CLINTON, IA — Gary L. Oleson, age 72, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center North. Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Pape Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Gary Lee Oleson, the son of Henry and Myra (Wilaby) Oleson, was born May 28, 1942 in Hampton, Iowa . He graduated from Dows High School in 1960 and went on to earn his BA degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Northern Iowa. Gary married Nona Miller on June 26, 1965. Nona passed away in 2004. He taught mathematics, algebra and geometry at Clinton High for 35 years. Gary and his wife, Nona, owned and operated the Cobweb Palace Antique's in Clinton. He was a member of the National Education Association and the Iowa State Educational Association. Gary enjoyed collecting antiques and photography.

Gary is survived by two sons: Tim Clark of Clinton and Jim Shaw of Springfield, MO; two grandsons: Zach and Adam Clark; four great-grandchildren, a brother; Dean (Corinne) Oleson of Melbourne, FL, a sister: Karen (Lloyd) Hill of Aurora, CO and a niece: Christy (Damon) Loop of Atlanta, GA. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to the Clinton High School.
