Funeral services for E. Laurel Knoedler, 57, Humboldt, were held Saturday, June 27, at the Oak Hill Baptist Church in Humboldt, with burial in Union Cemetery. He died suddenly Wednesday morning, June 24, at his home in Humboldt. The Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of the arrangements, with the Rev. Lester Johnson officiating. Casketbearers were Marvin Berhow, Perry Slaikeu, Robert Lochray, Marvin Andersen, Lynn Miller and Rodney Harklau. Honorary casketbearers were Jack Wood and Ivan Lautenschlager.

Survivors include his wife Louetta; three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Roxanne) Vesterby of Humboldt, Mrs. John (Deborah) Spence of St. Paul, MN, and Diane Lou Knoedler of Humboldt; one son, Timothy L. Knoedler of Humboldt; eight grandchildren; his mother, Velda Knoedler of Shell Rock; two sisters, Mrs. Freeman (Beth) Gates of Clarion and Mrs. Roger (Lurretta) Daughtery of Manhattan, KS; and two brothers, John Knoedler of Greeley, CO, and Keith Knoedler of Shell Rock.

E. Laurel Knoedler II, son of Elmer and Velda (Hill) Knoedler, was born Jan. 13, 1930, at Clarion. He was reared and educated at Britt and in 1949 graduated from the Britt High School. During the Korean conflict he served in the United States Navy. After returning home, he was married to Louetta Follette on Oct. 13, 1953, at Belmond. The couple lived in the communities of Dike and Clarion before moving to Humboldt in 1962. He was employed as a policeman by the Humboldt City Police Department until 1978 and then for several years managed a motel. Later he was employed by Harklau Industries, retiring due to health problems.
