March 8, 1888 --- July 29, 1956

Andrew Lewis Anderson, son of Tomas and Caroline Anderson, was born March 8, 1888, at Thor. He departed from this life July 29, 1956. He was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran church, Hardy, where he was a lifetime member. He grew up on a farm in Grove township. He served overseas in World War I, with Company E, 181st Regiment, Sunset Infantry Division. Andrew was married to Christine Johnson Nov. 20, 1920, at Fort Dodge by Rev. T. B. Thorson, who later became pastor of Trinity Lutheran church and later baptized and confirmed several of the children.

He is survived by his wife, Christine; three sons, Alton L., Leland K., and John Roger, and a daughter, Janice W. Anderson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl J. Anderson, Surviving are two brothers, Anton and Ole of Humboldt, two sisters, Mrs. Harry Johnson (Clara) of Humboldt, and Mrs. Hans Lenning (Tena) of Thor. Also surviving are seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Aug. 1, at 2 p.m. at the Thor Lutheran church, Thor, with the Rev. Olaf O. Brandt officiating, assisted by Adams American Legion Post No. 119, Humboldt. Casket bearers were Richard Hockel, Arthur Nelson, Jay Ersland, Olaf Lee, Sanford Knutson and Lloyd Lenning. Honorary bearers were Ben Ersland Sr., Omen Nervig and Amos Nelson. Sacred selections, "Rock of Ages" was sung by Lorne and Ed Michealson and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" by Lewis Wergeland Jr. Ushers were John Carter, Osmund Le, A. T. Guddall and John Morgan. Mrs. Alvin Thorson was accompanist. Internment was made in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery, Hardy, with military rites by the Humboldt Adams Post 119, Floyd L. Heim, adjutant; service commander, Gerald Smith; color bearers, Pete Friedman, Dale Kerns, color guards, L. E. Cunningham and Ernest Edge; rifle squad, James Olson, Pete Helvick Roger Hansen and Floyd Heim. The Bogaard funeral home in Humboldt was in charge of arrangements.
