Phyllis Mae (Horton) Rohrer, the daughter of Ralph F. and Dolly F. (Matte) Horton, was born on September 8, 1936, in Nora Springs, Iowa. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1954. On December 26, 1954, Phyllis was united in marriage to Paul L. Rohrer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. The couple had three children and made their home in many cities, while Paul served in the United States Air Force, including: Detroit, Boston, Denver, Tacoma, and Marquette. The couple returned to Eagle Grove in 1992. Phyllis was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a very creative and crafty person, participating in many craft clubs. Phyllis also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and was an excellent seamstress. Phyllis passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge at the age of 78 years, with family at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Marilyn Pohlmann. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Paul, of Eagle Grove; three sons: Mark Rohrer of Las Vegas, Nev., Scott Rohrer (Christine) of Rockford, Ill., and Todd Rohrer (Nuala) of Elizabeth Towne, Ky.; five grandchildren: Melissa, Monica, Matthew, Sean, and Rachel; five great-grandchildren: Reagan, Kaidence, Sydney, Hunter, and Charly; and her brother-in-law, David Pohlmann. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 23, at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Father Jerry Blake officiating. Memorials may be left to the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, or St. Joseph’s Indian School helping Native American children— PO Box 100, Chamberlain, South Dakota; Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
