Mrs. McManaman Dies Suddenly

Mrs. John McManaman died at her home in this city at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon from inflammation of the bowels, after an illness of only a couple of days. She was downtown with her daughter Monday afternoon and was taken sick soon after returning home, and her sudden death comes as a shock to her many friends as well as the members of her family.

Ann Burke was born in Ireland in 1843, and came to America when a young girl. She was married Jan. 1, 1861, at Ashland, Pa., to John McManaman. In 1870 they moved to Jackson county, Iowa, where they resided four years and then moved to Plymouth county and located on a homestead in Preston township. Her husband died April 4, 1904. She soon afterwards moved to Hawarden and has since made this city her home.

Nine children are still living and all but one were at her bedside when she was summoned home. The children are Mrs. M. P. Noonan and Mrs. Maggie Donovan of Eagle Grove; Mrs. Emily Griener and Patrick McManaman of Sioux City; Mrs. John McGilvery of Colorado; John and James of Washta; Michael of Chatsworth and Peter, who was living at home with his mother.

The funeral services will be held at the Catholic church in this city at 10 a. m. Saturday. The sorrowing children have the sympathy of all in their great loss.
