U.S. Veteran Richard Wesley Mantz, age 91, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Regency Park in Carroll. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Carl Cemetery near Carl, Iowa. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll.

Born on September 18, 1924 in Clarion, Iowa, he was the son of Samuel and Clara (Perkett) Mantz. He grew up in Clarion and enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17 and served six years during WWII. He was married to Betty Livengood in 1948 in Council Bluffs. To this union were born three children: Randy, Robert, and Ryan. Richard was a sales manager for Prudential Life Insurance Company for 31 years. He was married to Doris Jackson on January 13, 1978 in Lennox, Iowa. The couple made their home in Red Oak and also lived in Las Vegas before moving to Overland Park, Kansas in 2005. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the V.F.W. Richard is survived his wife Doris of Overland Park, Kansas; a son Randy Mantz and his wife Ann of Carroll; two step-sons: Bruce Peterson and Overland Park, Kansas, and Joe Peterson of Bedford, Iowa; a step-daughter Cindy Dremwright and her husband Mike of Shawnee, Kanasa; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons: Robert and Ryan Mantz.
