Jack M. Eaton, 83, of Tavares, FL, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 while under the care of his loving wife, family and Cornerstone Hospice. Mr. Eaton was born August 5, 1931 in Eagle Grove, Iowa to the late James Eaton and Marjorie (Lewis) Eaton. He retired from Cellular Communications and had also worked, doing what he loved, as a sports announcer for the University of Iowa’s Hawkeyes, along with a career in radio and his own sports show. Jack was dedicated to serving his community in many capacities. In Tavares he volunteered as a guardian Ad Litem and was a member of the Union Congregational Church, the AMVETS and ELKS. In Iowa, he was former president of Kiwanis, Dad’s Club and Booster Club. Jack enjoyed all sports. He won many trophies for racing boats and cars, and was an avid golfer, water skier and sailor. He and his loving wife of 47 years, Judy, moved to Central Florida in 1994 from Washington, Iowa. Along with his wife, he is survived by 5 children, Sherrie Frye (Chip) of Boulder, CO, Jim Scott of Ward, CO, Linda Shelangoski (Jeff) of Davenport, Iowa, Vicki Johnson (Dean) of Longmont, CO and Michelle Richards (Rick) of Lampe, MO; 11 grandchildren; Ashley, Jackie, Rusty, Jacob, Jordan, Gabriel, Madeleine, Kylie, Nicole, Trevor and Heather; 5 great-grandchildren; McKenzie, Lilly, Penelope, Luke and Caleb. Jack’s family and friends will celebrate his life 3:30pm, Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in the Union Congregational Church, Tavares, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s honor to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd, Tavares, FL 32778.
