Peterson-Sobek, 63, most recently a resident of Klemme, Iowa, formerly of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Marshall, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Andrews Funeral Home, 528 East Main Street, Klemme, Iowa. Visitation is from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home on Friday. Andrews Funeral Home, Klemme, Iowa. Kay died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient, Mason City, Iowa, following a short battle with cancer.

Kay Louise Peterson, the daughter of Roger and MaryJane (Johnson) Peterson, was born April 12, 1951, at Willmar. As a young girl she and her family moved to Marshall, where she attended and graduated from Marshall High School with the class of 1969. Following graduation Kay moved to Minneapolis, where she was employed with Northern State Power for a number of years.

Kay was later united in marriage to Dennis Peterson at Watertown, S.D. The couple's union was blessed with a son, Vaughn, born in 1976 and a daughter, Vanessa, born in 1978. Kay and Dennis moved to Clear Lake, Iowa, in 1977, where they managed the Pester Derby Convenience Store and Truck Stop on the east side of the I-35 and Highway 18 intersection for 12 years. Kay and Dennis later divorced but remained close friends for the remainder of Kay's life.

In August of 2000, Kay was married to her long time companion, Roland "Rollie" R. Sobek, at their home in Klemme, Iowa. For the next four years following their marriage the two enjoyed countless fishing excursions together to catch catfish near Marble Rock, Iowa, and to the spillway for Twin Lake, near Kanawha, Iowa. They also shared a mutual passion for gardening and raising flowers. Though they had not done much traveling, they did look forward to outings to various casinos in the region, especially going to Firefly Creek Casino in Granite Falls and the casino in Tama, Iowa. Rollie's health issues led to him passing away on Dec. 20, 2004. Kay continued to live in their home in Klemme where she enjoyed the companionship of her cats. Her friendly demeanor, welcoming smile and spunky personality were gifts that she shared with others over her many years in working with the public.

Survivors include her son, Vaughn Peterson and his significant other, Riann Rave and their children, DeNeil Rave and Brooklyn Rave-Peterson, all of Marshall; daughter, Vanessa Peterson-DeBell, and her children, Deondrea and Dawson, all of Sioux City, Iowa; Kay's ex-husband, Dennis Peterson, Clear Lake, Iowa; a brother, Dean (and Doreen) Peterson, Marshall; nieces and nephews and step nieces and nephews; and special friend Richard "Tiny" Flaten, Klemme, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, second husband Rollie Sobek, step-son, Robert Sobek. Memorials or cards may be sent to Kay's family c/o Dean Peterson, 400 E. Lyon St., Marshall, MN 56258.
