Winifred Audrey Rhode daughter of George Lyman Rhode and Lucy Ann Kemp Rhode, was born on the homestead of George Kemp northwest of Tabor, Iowa on December 27, 1901. While still young she was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Tabor, Iowa. On May 16, 1926 she was united in marriage to Harve Hobson Elefson of Hamilton Co. Iowa, who preceded her in death on September 28, 1941. To this marriage was born one son. Lyman Harve Elefson on June 15, 1927. She graduated from Tabor high school in 1920. After attending Graceland she received a degree in Music from American Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Then her B. S. from Peru, Nebraska. She has spent most of her time since teaching the last two years in Alaska. Winifred passed away on August 22, 1949 at St. Joseph hospital on Omaha, Nebraska. She is survived by her son Lyman Harve Elefson, two brothers, Wayne A. and Harold T. Rhode of Tabor, two sisters, Mrs. Geraldine Foster of Thurman, Iowa, and Mrs. Bernice McMahall of Poulsbo, Washington, and her grandmother Mrs. Anna Kemp of Tabor. A sunset interment service will be held Friday evening at 7:o’clock at the Tabor cemetery.
