Mrs. Sarah Rickard Passes Away Friday Evening

The call of death was answered by Mrs. Sarah Jane Davis Rickard, Friday evening, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. E. Thorn, the cause of her demise being due to old age. Mrs. Rickard had reached her seventy-sixth year. The funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock from the Baptist church, Rev. Lauder having charge of the services. Interment was made in the Rose Hill cemetery. The family have the sympathy of all their friends in the departure of their dear one. The deceased was born in Indiana, July 7, 1835 and moved with her parents to Hardin County, Iowa, when she was twenty years of age. In 1857 she was married to Lorin Brooks. To this union was born three daughters and one son, of whom the three girls still survive their parents. They are Mrs. L. E. Thorn, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Etta Dewey, of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. C. W. Smith, of Whitten. She was remarried to S. W. Rickard and to this second union was born two children, of whom one survives, Mrs. J. R. Baker, of St. Anthony. Four children and six brothers are left to mourn the loss of the deceased.
