A. W. "Bill" Crystal, 87, of Clarion, died Wednesday, October 25, 2000 at Community Memorial Hospital, Clarion, Iowa. Ammon William Crystal was born January 10, 1913, the son of Thomas and Marietta Settle Crystal in Missouri where he received his education in rural schools. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army-Infantry in the Pacific Theatre of Action. Following his discharge, he returned to farming at Webster City. On July 10, 1949, he and Leona Marguerite Deakman Stewart were united in marriage at Blairsburg. The couple farmed northeast of Webster City. He retired in 1978. His wife died April 27, 1987. He moved to Webster City in 1990. The past three years he has resided at the U.S.A. Healthcare in Clarion. He and Leona had three daughters, Shirley, Elaine and Jo Ann and two sons, Donald and Lynn.
