Forrest Donald Rasmussen son of Fred and Dora (Helmke) Rasmussen was born April 19, 1926, in rural Goldfield, Iowa. He attended country school and then in Renwick, moving to Wesley area in 1943. He graduated from Wesley High School with the class of 1944. At the age of 17, "Pat" enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944. He served on the U.S.S. Roberts in the Pacific theater in WWII, and was discharged in 1946. His awards include the Silver Star, which was awarded to him for saving the lives of the crew of 200 men during a typhoon.

On November 4, 1947, he was married to Blanche (Nedved) in St. Boniface Catholic Church Garner, Iowa. They have celebrated 67 years of marriage. Pat was a farmer and served on the school board 9 years and delivered Winnebago motor homes for 30 years.

Forrest "Pat" Rasmussen, 88, of Wesley died Monday, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa. Pat is survived by his wife Blanche Rasmussen of Wesley; children, Donald (Eulinda) Rasmussen of Britt, Dwight (Ruth) Rasmussen of Wesley, Debra (Michael) Studer of Wesley, Paul (Linda) Rasmussen of Corwith, Sam (Theresa) Rasmussen of New Hampton, John (Dawn) Rasmussen of Wesley, Ann (Alan) Leadley of Eagle Grove, 27 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Franklin Rasmussen; grandsons, Andrew Rasmussen and Cael Rasmussen, sister, Frances Smith; brothers, Merle and Kenneth Rasmussen.
