Donna Spangler, a longtime resident of Sonoma, died at the home of her daughter in Santa Rosa, CA on December 20th after losing her battle with cancer. She was born Donna Mae Nairn on October 2, 1937 in Webster City, Iowa the daughter of Melvyn Nairn and Thelma Hurst. She married Ronald Spangler in Nevada on March 6, 1961. They made Sonoma their permanent residence. Ronald died in 1993. Donna liked butterflies and in her retirement years she provided care and companionship to others. She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Janet of Sonoma and Rhonda of Santa Rosa; a grandson, Joshua and his fiancee Roxie; two sisters, Sheryl (John) Sego of Clarion, Iowa and Kathy (Robert) Simmons of Isanti, Minnesota; one brother, Roger (Maria) Nairn of Webster City, Iowa ; friends, nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved cat, Lady. Cremation with no memorial service were her wishes. Memorial donations can be made to Pets lifeline, P.O. Box 341, Sonoma, Calif.
