Kenneth R. Hawley, born August 26, 1941 departed this life on Sunday, January 11, at his home in Belmond, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Belmond United Methodist Church. Rev. Cindy Morrison will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at the Andrews Funeral Home in Belmond, IA and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.

Ken was born and raised in Belmond, IA. He graduated from the Belmond High School with the class of 1959. He proudly served 4 years in the United States Navy. He moved to Ames, IA where he raised his family with his ex-wife Bernie. He enjoyed his 32 years career at the Department of Transportation where he made many friends. After retiring, he returned to Belmond where he married and later divorced Laurie Evanson. He went through life with a smile on his face and always had a joke to tell. He valued nature, jazz music, and going out for coffee. Ken always enjoyed the company of women, friends, and family. He dearly loved and was most proud of his two daughters, who also loved and adored him. As Ken would say, It's not the cough'n that kills ya, it's the coffin they carry ya off in."

He is survived by his daughter Cindy Hawley-Cotton (Tim) and their son. Daughter, Kelly Somsanith-Hawley (Oune) and their five children. His brother, Larry (Kaye) of Sioux Falls, SD. His sister-in-law, Mary (Rick) Hawley of Belmond, IA. He was preceded in death by his father, Rex, mother, June, infant sister and two brothers, Ricky and Douglas. He is also survived by countless friends he made during his life journey.
