Mark Roland Pomeroy, Sr., the son of William and Flora (Schlegel) Pomeroy, was born February 14, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Ellsworth. Mark started with Rock Island Railroad in 1956 and continued with Union Pacific and Chicago Northwestern until his retirement in 1999 – he also lived in Iowa Falls, Estherville and moved to Eagle Grove in 1987. Mark was an avid sports fan – football, hockey, basketball, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning and reading and he loved cats!

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Jean Rae (Joan's twin sister); brother, William Pomeroy; sister, Bonnie Little; daughter-in-law, Jan Pomeroy and grandson, Mike Pomeroy. Survivors include his children: Becky Varcoe (John) of Estherville, Randy Pomeroy (Debra) of Rockledge, FL, Joan Hall (Gary) of Garwin, Jeffrey Pomeroy (Debbie) of Fairbanks, AK, Bryan Pomeroy (Sue) of Lake Elmo, MN and Mark Pomeroy, Jr. (Janette) of Iowa Falls; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sisters, Laura Thorson (Verne) and Twila Morgan (John) and a very special love, Lou Rasmuson of Garner – whom which the family is very appreciative for all her care.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Pastor Heather Dorr officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
