Brett Nicholas Andersen, 51, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at his home of natural causes. He was born May 22, 1963 in Ames, Iowa the son of Nick and Leandra (Hanson) Andersen. Brett attended schools in Newton, Maynard, and Osage, IA, and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1981. He joined the Marines and lived briefly in California. He was united in marriage to Susan Kasper at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA., August 21, 1987. They were blessed with one daughter, Shana Marie. They later divorced. The three happiest days of Brett's life were the day he graduated from Marine Basic Training at the top of his class and was made Honor Man, the day he married Sue, and the day his daughter was born. Brett loved fishing and hunting all of his life. Fall was his favorite time of year, and he loved to have a dog by his side. He will be missed by his family and many friends, and his buddy Sierra. Brett is survived by is daughter, Shana Andersen, and her mother Sue Anderson both of Ellendale, MN., his parents, Nick and Lea Andersen, Clear Lake, IA, his brother, Bruce and wife Cheryl Andersen, Cedar Grove, WI, one niece Hanne Andersen, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and two cousins, A. J. Hanson and Neil Lister. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 3, 2015 at 4:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Loren Olson officiating, visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
