Mrs. Margaret Gordon

Margaret Jane Shimmin, daughter of James and Katherine Shimmln, was born December 26, 1854, at Douglas on the Isle of Man, and passed away at her home in Galt December 28, 1943, at the advanced age of 89 years and 2 days. She came to America in the winter of 1891 and established her home at Sibley, Ill. On January 27, 1892, she was united in marriage to Richard Henry Gordon of Sibley, Ill. They moved to a farm near Strawn, Ill., later moving to Galt where they continued to live on a farm and later moving to town. She enjoyed her homo and flowers and spent many hours among the flowers she raised until failing in health she no longer could do so. She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away September 18, 1932, her father, mother and two brothers. She Is survived by two sons and one daughter, Roy, of Galt, Clarence of Alexander and Florence, Mrs. Harry Burt, of Clarion, four grand children and several nieces and nephews, also one sister in England. Mrs. Gordon was a kind and loving mother and a good friend and neighbor, always ready to answer any call of need. She was a true and devoted Christian. In early life she united with the Congregational church and
continued in the fellowship and service until her death.
