RITES HELD FOR MRS. THOMPSON
DR. RINER OFFICIATES AT FUNERAL HELD AT M. E. CHURCH

CLEAR LAKE, Aug. 19 – Funeral services for Mrs. Alick Thompson were conducted at the M. E. church Sunday afternoon, Dr. B.W. Riner officiating. Pallbearers were O. T. Hanson, L. W. Sherman, E. H. Rich, Sol Ott, John A. Smith, J. C. Davenport. Mrs. Runcie and Mrs. Kenyon sang a duet, “Valley of Peace.” Violet Wolford sang a solo, “One Sweetly Solemn Thought,” Irma Mason accompanying. Relatives and friends in attendance were from Britt, Kanawha, Clarion, Lohrville, Lake City, Iowa Falls, Garden City, Radcliffe, Mason City, Fort Dodge, Woden, Crystal Lake, and Welcome, Minn.

Mrs. Thompson, nee Alice Espe, was born Sept. 25, 1879, at Jewell Junction. Her mother died when she was four years old and her father when she was eight. She lived at Clarion for some years, then at Kanawha with her aunt, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Alick Thompson at Rochelle, Ill., Feb. 11, 1903. They moved from Rochelle to Britt in 1906, where they lived on a farm for 23 years, then moving to a farm near Swaledale where they lived for two years, and coming to Clear Lake in 1926, where she resided since. She united with the Methodist church 27 years ago. She began failing in health about two years ago, and passed away Thursday morning at the age of 55 years. She is survived by her husband and seven children, Alma, Spencer, Lillian, Evelyn, Sheldon, Alice and Warren, all living at home.
