April 7, 1907 --- May 5, 1990

Mrs. Gladys Ruth Osnes, 83, formerly of 201 S. Fourth St., died Saturday, May 5, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City. Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Murley Severtson officiating. Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

She was born April 7, 1907, at Belmond, a daughter of Severt and Atlanta (Mikelson) Evans. She attended rural school in Wright County, then attended Waldorf Academy in Forest City. She lived with her family on a farm near Belmond, later moving with her parents to a farm near Burchinal in 1940. On March 20, 1955 she was married to John Osnes at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. They farmed south of Clear Lake until 1959 when Mr. Osnes died and she moved into Clear Lake. In April 1989, she moved into the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, Rural Lakette Club, W.L.A.M. Club and Clear Lake Senior Citizens.

Memorials may be given to the Gladys Ruth Memorial Fund. Survivors include a brother, Melvin Evans, Mason City; and four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ida Evans, Mason City; Mrs. Esther Evans Johnson, Clear Lake; Mrs. Vivian Evans, Kansas City, Mo.; and Mrs. Lucille Evans, Plymouth, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, three sisters and one stepson, Carroll Osnes. Pallbearers were Bruce Evans, Byron Heginger, David Toft, Robert Evans, Dennis Erickson, and John Krall. The organist was Lisa Tiffany.
