July 4, 1871 --- April 30, 1922

William F. Imus was born near Bingham Lake, Minnesota July 4, 1871 and died at his home near Waverly, Iowa April 30, 1922 aged 50 years 9 months 26 days. His early youth was spent in Minnesota and when 13 years of age he came with his parents to Sauk county, Dakota. It was here that his father died 4 years later. Then with his mother, he came to Marble Rock, Iowa where he attended the public schools. When he became a man he followed the occupation of farming and for several years made a happy and comfortable home for his mother and younger brother and sister. Mr Imus was a man of high moral standing, strong in his convictions of right and duty, quick to respond to the call of help and a neighbor and friend to be depended upon. When 16 years of age he united with the Methodist church. In 1903 he was united in marriage to Olive I. Hurd. The home never having been blessed with children, they adopted 2 small children who today mourn him who was a father to them in the truest sense of the word. Truly it can be said of him that he has left to his family a beautiful memory. Mr Imus had been in failing health for the past year and about 4 weeks ago developed a severed case of quinsy which with other complications resulted in his death Saturday morning.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and 2 children, Helen and Wayne, his aged mother, Mrs. Mary Imus of Bradgate, 2 sisters, Mrs. J. M. Lovrien, Eagle Grove, Iowa and Miss Florence Imus of Bradgate and 3 brothers, John E. of Charles City, Tabor C. of Clarksville and Frank E. of Bradgate, Iowa besides numerous other relatives and friends. Short services were held at the family home Monday morning and the remains brought to Greene, Iowa where Rev Baker conducted a beautiful service in the Methodist Episcopal Church. Many friends were present to pay their last respects and the floral offerings were very pretty. He was laid to rest in the beautiful Rose Hill cemetery.
