Des Moines, Iowa --- Kathryn (Groom) Toresdahl was born in Ute, Iowa on May 14, 1930 to M. Wayne and Emma (Christensen) Groom. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1948. Kathryn lived much of her life in the Fort Dodge and Ames area. At the time of her retirement she worked for the Story County Conservation. For a time after that she lived in Pearl City, Hawaii before returning to Ames. In 2013 Kathryn moved to Des Moines to be closer to her family. Kathryn passed away peacefully at Karen Acres Care Center in Urbandale on Tuesday, December 23, 2014. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Brett & Geleen (Reed) Toresdahl of West Des Moines, granddaughters Haley Toresdahl of Salem, Virginia & Hannah Toresdahl of West Des Moines. Kathryn is preceded in death by her parents and son Scott.

Memorial services will be held Friday, January 2, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church. Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove, Iowa is handling the arrangements. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Joppa Outreach, Inc. in Des Moines, Iowa.
