Robert E. Halliday Sr., 90, of Webster City, died Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastors Mike Kroona and Kari Foss officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday and prior to the service time on Friday.

Robert Eugene Halliday, son of James and Hazel Russell Halliday, was born April 16, 1924 on a farm northeast of Highview, Iowa. He received his education in a rural school near Highview. During W.W. II, he served in the United States Army in a transportation Company. On December 3, 1946, he married Marian Frances Shutt at Austin, Minnesota. The couple farmed Bob's grandmother Flugstad's farm south of Highview. In 1979, they moved to Webster City but he continued to farm. He had also worked part time at Van Diest Supply. They started making turquoise and silver jewelry in 1964. Bob, Marian and Rosanne, all shared in the operation of a T-shirt business for several years. Marian died March 21, 2010 at the Belmond Medical Center. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Rosanne Halliday of Webster City; son, Robert Halliday, Jr. of Duncombe; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Ellyn Jo Halliday; sister, Eva Bloomquist; brother, John Halliday and grandson, Anthony "Tony" Wayne Halliday.

Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Post # 191, past Noble Grand of Webster City ELMO Lodge # 62 - Independent Order of Odd fellows, a former member of Webster City Moose Family Center, Prairie Gold Twin Lakes District Scout Training Staff, a charter member of the Webster City Emergency Radio Patrol, a member of the Isaac Walton League, the Webster City Camera Club, a former board member of the Hamilton County Historical Society, an Eagle Scout mentor, a Cubmaster, Des Moines River Valley Antique Tractor and Engine Club, West Central Regional Cockshutt Tractor Club, former ABATE of Iowa member and in 2011 went on the Honor Flight to Washington, DC.
