August 12, 1897 --- November 12, 1977

Everett Sellers was born August 12, 1897 in Melrose, Monroe County, Iowa and passed away in his sleep on the morning of November 12, 1977, at his home in Mount Ayr, Iowa. He lived around Russell and Chariton in his early life. On August 22, 1917, he married Cora May Sims of Russell, Iowa. The children born to this union were: Virgil, of Cedar Falls; Donald, of Hanlontown; Burdette, of Washington, D.C.; Herbert, deceased; Robert, of Swaledale; Mary Louise Nolte, of Goddell; and Carl, of Jamestown, New York.

In his early life Everett farmed in Lucas County, Iowa. In 1930, he moved his family to northern Iowa near Goodell, where he was a very progressive farmer. He lost his first wife in 1951. On February 26, 1952 he married Gladys Tharp of Des Moines. Following this marriage, he and Gladys have lived in Des Moines a major portion of their lives together. They moved to Mountain Home, Ark., then to Mount Ayr, where his life was terminated.

He is survived by his widow; five sons; one daughter; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Nov. 15 from the Rhoades-Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Noble officiating. Kenneth Burright provided music, accompanied by Mike Greene. Casket bearers were Don Paige, Bob Etter, Dan Sandahl, Harold Kaster, Donald Dailey and Harold Sellers. Interment was in the Russell Cemetery.
